As a Mechanical Technician, you will be installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting industrial machinery and equipment. You will play a key role in ensuring the pilot plant operates efficiently and at maximum productivity.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assembling and installing equipment, testing to ensure proper operation.
  • Maintaining and repairing equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Identifying and repairing problematic parts through testing, repairs, and installing new parts.
  • Conducting preventative maintenance to identify and fix potential issues.
  • Operating various equipment and systems.

To be successful in this role, you should:

  • Have 2 years of post-apprenticeship experience maintaining small industrial equipment.
  • Possess a valid Alberta Journeyperson or Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate in Millwright, Pipefitter, Steamfitter, or HVAC.
  • Have a strong safety mindset with proven safe work practices and knowledge of WHMIS and OH&S regulations.
  • Be able to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally work at shoulder level with equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Have mechanical aptitude with hand tools, small power tools, forklifts, etc.
  • Be proficient in reading technical documents such as specifications, manuals, and P&ID’s.
  • Have knowledge of maintenance practices, preventative and predictive maintenance, and troubleshooting small equipment like valves and pumps.
  • Possess excellent mathematical skills and attention to detail.
