Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Technician to perform maintenance and inspections on ultra-class haul trucks at the Detour Lake Mine. The role focuses on reliable operation, safety, and timely reporting of service activities.

Four to five years of relevant experience, strong CAT ET & SIS Web familiarity, and a commitment to working in a demanding mining environment are essential. On-site accommodations and meals are provided.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required; a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certificate is an asset.
  • Minimum five years’ related experience in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Experience with ultra-class Haul trucks 798/795 electric drive; CAT ET & SIS Web knowledge is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular servicing, preventative maintenance and inspections on heavy equipment at Detour Lake Mine.
  • Perform large component replacements as part of a team.
  • Troubleshoot Engine/Electrical/Hydraulic systems using computerized testing equipment.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and efficient work area; complete electronic service reports promptly.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE

Reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor, you will be part of the Mobile Maintenance Department. You will be responsible for the proper maintenance and repair, as well as performing preventative maintenance and operational safety inspections on all heavy equipment at the Detour Lake Mine. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Performing regular servicing, preventative maintenance and inspections on 795/798 ultra class haul trucks;
  • Work as part of team to perform large component replacements;
  • Use of computerized and other testing equipment to troubleshoot issues with Engine/Electrical/Hydraulic systems;
  • Repairing hydraulic, powertrain and electrical systems;
  • Use of various tools including hydraulic power units, torque wrenches and hoists;
  • Identifying and reporting part requirements and supplies as required;
  • Preparing electronic service reports and documentation in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and efficient work area.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED;
  • Ontario Provincial or Inter-Provincial Heavy Duty Equipment Technician certificate is considered an asset;
  • Minimum five years’ related experience in a fast-paced production environment;
  • Experience with ultra-class Haul trucks 798/795 electric drive;
  • Experience with Caterpillar C-175 or Caterpillar Power generation would be an asset;
  • Computer literate and proven knowledge of CAT ET & SIS Web;
  • Focused and self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.
Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 14/14 schedule at our Detour Lake Mine;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
