Job summary

Winpak is seeking an Assistant to join the MBVS department in Winnipeg on a 12-hour rotating shift. You will support Multibarrier cast lines and/or roll stock slitters while ensuring product quality, kilogram/hour outputs, and scrap targets are met.

Responsibilities include assisting operators, basic maintenance, safety and quality checks, and department documentation. Onsite role with 5S practices and ISO/SQF compliance.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience clearly communicating with team members both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts as required including days and nights.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (22.5 kg).
  • 6+ months of experience with hand and/or power tools.

Job description

Winpak Division is seeking an Assistant to join the MBVS department based out of Winnipeg on the 12-hour rotating shift. In this role you will provide a support role to the Multibarrier Cast lines and/or Multibarrier roll stock slitters and actively participate in the safe operation of the cast line or slitter such that the product quality, kilogram/hour outputs, and percentage scrap standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Operators with the preparation of all orders for the shift and running of the Multibarrier or slitter line.
  • Assist with both the simple and regular routine maintenance of the equipment under the direction of the Operators or Supervisor.
  • Conduct routine safety, quality and housekeeping checks.
  • Assist in completing department documentation as assigned.
  • Maintain the department and surrounding areas following prescribed housekeeping and 5s standards.
  • Operate forklift equipment and material handling equipment such as overhead hoists and roll manipulators.
  • Perform duties and responsibilities in a manner compliant with ISO 9001 standards and the SQF Code.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of experience clearly communicating with team members both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts as required including days and nights
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (22.5 kg).
  • 6 + months of experience with hand and/or power tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 + months of experience with equipment and/or machinery (not limited to lawn mowers, forklifts, electric pallet jacks, cranes, balers).
  • 6+ months of experience in manufacturing and/or production environment.
  • Forklift Certification (sit-down and walkie).
  • The MBVS Assistant position is 100% onsite, working on the production floor.
  • We are located in Murray Industrial Park. There are limited bus services to this location.
12-Hour Shift Rotation: (example)
  • Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 8:00-20:00 (days)
  • Week 2 - Wednesday, Thursday from 8:00-20:00 (days)
  • Week 3 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 20:00-8:00 (nights)
  • Week 4 - Wednesday, Thursday from 20:00-8:00 (nights)
  • Week 5 - Repeat rotation starting at week 1
