Job description

Additionally, SMP provides customized solutions for vehicle control and thermal management products in diversified end markets represented by its Engineered Solutions segment.

Job Description:

Responsible for managing the flow of materials, ensuring timely and efficient production, in order to meet customer fill rates.

Scheduling and Production Control: 60%

  • Schedule multiple production lines including creating and releasing workorders
  • Production reporting and work order management
  • Following up on production output and giving priorities to Production Manager
  • Monitor and report out on Customer fill rates and recovery plans if not meeting target.
  • Monitor Aftermarket inventory at multiple DC sites and react to potential shortages based on demand -including report out at Divisional S&OP meetings and weekly fill rate meetings
  • Schedule and monitor Engineered Solutions customer orders and production completions to ensure on time/in full delivery to Customers
  • Support the coordination and implementation of engineering/materials changes-Adding new parts to scheduling process
  • Request and manage deviations through production process (updating workorders)
  • Participate in trouble shooting inventory systems problem- inventory discrepancies, backflush variances


Material Planning 30%

  • Place Purchase Orders for and monitor deliveries of raw materials- including expediting to meet schedules
  • Monitor and approve Freight invoices, resolve invoice variances with suppliers
  • Update Vendor Pricing in JDE system
  • Set up new parts for new projects


Project and Continuous improvement 10 %

  • Assist with identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives within the scheduling and planning functions and outside the department
  • Monitor and adjust system setting for optimum Planning (safety stock, lead times, planning fences)
  • Participate in new project launches for Aftermarket and Engineered Solutions Products
  • Act as a backup for Order Entry, Inventory Control and Shipment paperwork


Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum one year experience in a Material Planner / Scheduler or similar role
  • APICS Certification (in process or completed), post-secondary education in Materials Management, or equivalent experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written to all levels within and outside the Organization.
  • Working knowledge of TS / ISO system requirements and processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS applications, in particular: Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Ability to multitask in a busy manufacturing environment
