Job summary

The Town of Oakville is seeking a Master Instructor to provide instructional art classes in drawing, painting and printmaking for children, youth and adults. This part-time position requires independence, curriculum development, and the ability to work with diverse audiences.

Master instructors will develop program-specific curricula, lead lessons, and ensure safe, creative, and inclusive activities. A satisfactory criminal record check dated within 30 days is required for employment.

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in or completion of a post-secondary Visual Arts program
  • Strong knowledge of contemporary visual art
  • Experience developing lesson plans
  • Previous teaching experience in an educational setting
  • HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) is required for instructing children’s programs ages 4-12 years
  • Ability to work with diverse audiences and independently

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, lead and deliver visual art classes for children, youth and adults.
  • Develop program-specific curriculum, ensuring safe and inclusive art activities.
  • Provide a positive learning and recreational experience for all participants.
  • Lead classes in drawing, painting and printmaking for ages 3+.
  • Assist in researching and developing arts programming for beginner and practicing artists.
