Job summary

The Town of Oakville is seeking a part-time woodworking instructor for Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC) in Oakville, Ontario. You will deliver introductory and ongoing woodworking classes to children, youth and adults, with an emphasis on safety and inclusive learning.

Responsibilities include developing curriculum, researching new programming, delivering sessions, maintaining a positive learning environment, and supporting town objectives.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in or completion of a post-secondary program specializing in Furniture Design, Fine Woodworking or a related discipline.
• Experience developing lesson and activity plans.
• Strong knowledge of contemporary craft, fine woodworking, and/or design.
• Ability to adapt instructional practices to diverse audiences.
• HIGH FIVE PHCD is required for instructing children’s programs.
• Basic First Aid with CPR-C & AED.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, lead and deliver woodworking classes for children, youth and adults.
• Assist with curriculum development and researching new programming.
• Provide a positive learning and recreational experience and support department objectives.
