Manager, Property Accounting – Tenant Recovery

The Manager, Property Accounting is responsible for in-depth review and production of accounting and financial analysis and reports, with the objective of providing accurate, reliable and timely information to the various internal and external clients of the department. They will ensure the integrity of accounting controls, review bank reconciliations, adjustments, recovery calculations and cash management as necessary, use development, mentoring and coaching techniques to build a strong accounting team, manage performance evaluations in conjunction with HR, and coordinate departmental learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the accounting team to ensure departmental objectives are achieved.
  • Assist in portfolio level review and completion of monthly financial results and variance analysis for management.
  • Contribute to quarterly quality assurance reviews on financial working papers.
  • Coordinate lease setup and review recovery models creation for newly acquired properties.
  • Review lease recovery set up in Recovery Application.
  • Assist in portfolio reporting to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of recovery information.
  • Assist in portfolio level review and reporting to management, co-owners, and auditors.
  • Ensure all Internal Control Policies and Procedures are followed, including the documentation and completion of proper audit documents.
  • Identify gaps in existing policies and procedures and escalate as appropriate.
  • Complete analytics for various recovery calculations or scenarios as requested by various business stakeholders.
  • Assist in Quarterly reforecast of required recovery calculations.
  • Review of final billing and budget models to ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinate any required revision for any lease/tenant dispute.
  • Coordinate with Recovery Application Developer for any required enhancements.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities, as required.

Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree specializing in Accounting, Business, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of full cycle property accounting experience, including property and recovery/lease accounting.
  • CPA (CGA, CMA, CA) designation completed preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • JD Edwards (JDE) experience preferred.
  • Ability to lead and direct others in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead process improvements and adopt new technologies to enhance accounting operations.
  • Ability to adapt to new challenges and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong proficiency in analyzing and resolving standard issues by applying experience, judgment, and established precedents to determine effective solutions.
  • Ability to work well with others and develop cooperative working relationships.
  • Solid understanding of accounting and internal controls and procedures.
