Position Overview

The Manager, Tenant Recovery is responsible for in-depth review and production of accounting and financial analysis and reports, with the goal of providing accurate, reliable, and timely information to internal and external clients. They will ensure the integrity of accounting controls, review bank reconciliations, adjustments, recovery calculations, and cash management as necessary. The role also involves mentoring and coaching to build a strong accounting team, managing performance evaluations in conjunction with HR, and coordinating departmental learning.

Responsibilities
  1. Support the accounting team to ensure departmental objectives are achieved.
  2. Assist in portfolio level review and completion of monthly financial results and variance analysis for management.
  3. Contribute to quarterly quality assurance reviews on financial working papers.
  4. Coordinate lease setup and review recovery models creation for newly acquired properties.
  5. Review lease recovery setup in Recovery Application.
  6. Assist in portfolio reporting to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of recovery information.
  7. Assist in portfolio level review and reporting to management, co-owners, and auditors.
  8. Ensure all internal control policies and procedures are followed, including proper documentation and audit procedures.
  9. Identify gaps in existing policies and procedures and escalate as needed.
  10. Complete analytics for recovery calculations or scenarios as requested by stakeholders.
  11. Assist in quarterly reforecast of recovery calculations.
  12. Review final billing and budget models for accuracy.
  13. Coordinate revisions for lease/tenant disputes.
  14. Coordinate with Recovery Application Developer for enhancements.
  15. Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Real Estate, or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of full cycle property accounting experience, including property and recovery/lease accounting.
  • CPA designation preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook; JD Edwards experience preferred.
  • Leadership skills to guide and develop team members.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to lead process improvements and adopt new technologies.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop cooperative relationships.
  • Solid understanding of internal controls and procedures.
