Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Finance, the Manager, Finance- Property Management (PM) will play a significant role in advancing Dixon Hall’s mission by maintaining high standards and supporting the continuous improvement of Dixon Hall’s Finance department. The Manager, Finance- PM is responsible for supporting the effective delivery of projects in Supportive Housing and Real Estate & Property Management divisions. The Manager, Finance- PM will also oversee all matters related to financial expenditure and reporting, as well as aid in financial and operational reporting, day-to-day management, and external audits.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Manager, Finance- PM role in property management is multifaceted and crucial for the financial health and success of the properties overseen. Responsibilities include:
- Strategic Financial Planning: Collaborate with colleagues to align financial strategies with organizational goals.
- Develop innovative approaches to maximize rental income and enhance property management practices.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational success.
- Identify and implement workflow improvements to optimize processes.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective services.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls specific to RGI properties.
- Prepare and manage annual budgets (operating, capital improvement, and capital replacement), including revenue forecasting and expense control.
- Create 10-year cash flow projections for RGI properties.
- Manage relations with lending agencies and organizations.
- Work with partners and stakeholders to support programs promoting financial stability and compliance.
- Monitor financial performance and provide regular reports (monthly, quarterly, annually) to senior management and the board.
- Ensure compliance with regulations, funding requirements, and reporting standards related to RGI housing programs.
- Coordinate with auditors, funding agencies, and regulatory bodies as needed.
- Stay informed on regulatory and industry best practices related to RGI housing finance and accounting.
- Handle all financial transactions, including rent calculations, subsidies, lease agreements, accounts payable, and general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Establish internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
- Conduct audits and reviews to assess compliance and identify improvement areas.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field; CPA preferred.
- At least 5 years in finance and accounting, with 2+ years in property management or affordable housing finance.
- Strong knowledge of RGI housing programs, regulations, and funding mechanisms in Ontario, especially Toronto.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and software (e.g., Yardi, Microsoft Excel).
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
- Ability to provide a Vulnerable Sector Screening check with a satisfactory result.
- Up-to-date COVID-19 vaccinations approved in Canada.
