Job summary

Bissell Centre's Thrift Shop in Edmonton is seeking a Manager, Family Intervention Program to lead our Family Intervention Services. You will oversee program design, delivery, and evaluation, coordinating a multidisciplinary team to support children, youth, and families in partnership with the Government of Alberta.

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Social Work or related discipline.
  • Degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
  • Employees with Social Work Degree/Masters are required to provide and maintain ongoing registration, in good standing, with Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) as per Alberta Health Professionals Act.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; and
  • Ability to self-manage, assign and supervise accounting tasks, and work in a collaborative environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Alberta Government’s Child Intervention Practice Framework.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight of the designated program stream to ensure high-quality service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and maintain strict contract compliance in accordance with funder requirements and organizational standards.
  • Develop and implement an annual operational plan including goals, objectives, and timelines.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison for Children’s Services (CFS), ensuring transparent communication and collaborative case management.
  • Ensure program participants regularly can give input.
  • Ensure knowledge based on Family Support, Case Management, and Cultural Responsiveness is current and keeps up to date on new developments in the field.

Currently, Bissell Centre is looking for a Manager, Family Intervention Program to join our dedicated Family Intervention Services team as we journey with the Community towards an elimination of poverty. How You’ll Make an Impact?

Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Family Intervention Program Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, administration, and evaluation of Family Intervention Program services delivered in partnership with the Government of Alberta. The Manager provides leadership and oversight to a multidisciplinary team consisting of Family Support Workers, Intake Workers, Circle Facilitators, and other program staff who support children, youth, and families involved with Child Intervention services.

The Manager is responsible for ensuring services are delivered in accordance with the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act, Family Intervention Program standards, organizational priorities, accreditation requirements, and contractual obligations. Through collaborative leadership, data-informed decision-making, and strong community partnerships, the Manager ensures families receive timely, effective, and culturally responsive supports that enhance child safety, strengthen family functioning, and promote positive outcomes for children, youth, and families.
