Job summary

Gray Collection, a renowned hospitality group in Montreal, is seeking a Maître d'Hotel to coordinate dining room operations and lead the service team to ensure exceptional guest experiences.

The role requires strong leadership, fluency in French and English, and availability including nights and weekends; you will collaborate with the kitchen, handle guest relations, and take on on-duty responsibilities when the Restaurant Manager is away.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience as a Maître d'Hotel or in a similar position.
• Knowledge of restaurant management software (Micros and OpenTable are assets).
• Excellent customer service, leadership, and communication skills in both French and English.
• Flexible availability including days, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Maitre d'Hotel reports to the Restaurant Manager. Their role is to coordinate all dining room operations, assist in supervising the service team, and play a leading role in welcoming guests and ensuring an exceptional overall dining experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure proper service planning based on anticipated guest volume;
• Assist in supervising staff during service;
• Maintain ongoing communication with the kitchen to ensure smooth and efficient service operations;
• Assist with table service as needed;
• Ensure guest satisfaction during and after service;
• Handle guest complaints and resolve issues when required;
• Participate in inventory management;
• Act as the manager on duty in the absence of the Restaurant Manager;
• Complete all required administrative duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Training in restaurant management is considered an asset;
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Maitre d'Hotel or in a similar position;
• Knowledge of restaurant management software (Micros and OpenTable are assets);
• Strong team-oriented mindset;
• Excellent customer service skills;
