Job summary

CareerBeacon is seeking a Maintenance Technician in New Minas, Nova Scotia, to perform installations, renovations, repairs and servicing across carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, painting and ventilation under the Nova Scotia Provincial Housing Agency.

The role requires a valid NS trade qualification or Red Seal, 3+ years in building/property maintenance, and ability to work with multiple trades. Travel within the Western district is required and a valid driver's license is essential.

Qualifications

• Certificate of qualification under the Apprenticeship and Tradesman's Qualification Act of Nova Scotia or interprovincial Red Seal Journeyman plus three years' maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of planned maintenance procedures and building codes, municipal by laws, provincial acts and regulations such as WCA/OHS and fire regulations.
• Competency with desktop applications such as Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work cooperatively with other trades and support organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Maintain building codes and installation requirements to meet applicable codes.
• Install, repair and maintain building systems and components.
• Review plans and specifications to determine layout and materials.
• Handle water treatment equipment, piping, controls, and plumbing fixtures and appliances.
• Perform scheduled maintenance on building systems and fixtures.
• Prepare documentation such as work orders, vehicle reports, maintenance logs and inventory records.
• Other duties as assigned.
