Job summary

The Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation in St. John’s is seeking a Maintenance Repairperson B to perform skilled repair, maintenance and refurbishment of NL Housing residential units, including preparing vacant units for occupancy.

You will carry out plastering, painting, drywall repair and carpentry, plus basic plumbing, electrical work, and minor asbestos abatement where required. Strong record-keeping and tenant communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of Carpentry, Painting and Decorating, or Renovation Technician program.
• Experience in residential plastering and painting.
• Experience in residential carpentry, maintenance, or construction.
• Experience in basic plumbing.
• Journeyperson Certificate of Qualification in Carpentry or Painting & Decorating (Asset)

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled repair, maintenance, and refurbishment on NL Housing residential units, including preparing vacant units for occupancy.
• Carry out plastering, painting, drywall repair, and carpentry such as doors/windows/flooring.
• Do basic plumbing and fixtures installation/repair; identify leaks.
• Handle mold/mildew remediation and minor asbestos abatement per safety standards.
• Ensure safety systems are operational and perform interior/exterior repairs.
• Estimate materials and labour; maintain records; communicate with tenants.
• Take on seasonal tasks as required.
