Job description

Job Responsibilities

• Perform basic maintenance for HVAC systems/electrical/plumbing.
• Pressure washing as required.
• Maintain the grounds, facility, and equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with government standards.
• Problem solve, plan, organize, communicate, and cooperate with other staff members to ensure tasks are completed.
• Assist with resident move ins/outs and perform necessary repairs for suite turnovers.
• Keep accurate maintenance records of work done.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Perform basic carpentry projects.

Qualifications

• Ability to work with a team and follow direction.
• Keen ability to recognize problems and create effective solutions.
• Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Self-directed with effective time and resource management to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Moderate flexibility and tolerance to adjust to changes in workloads, assignments, and days (e.g., occasional weekends, evenings).
• Effective communication skills with residents, families, and staff.
• Awareness of accident and injury prevention, hazard identification, and adherence to safe work practices.
• Must possess a valid provincial driver's license and have a reliable vehicle. Mileage will be paid for travel between sites.

Bona-Fide Occupational Requirements

• Physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the position (may be required to lift, move, push, or pull objects weighing up to 75 pounds).
• Ability to work on your feet for a complete shift while constantly bending, stretching, walking, lifting, or moving things.
• Ability to safely work from a ladder.
• A current and clear Criminal Record Check including a Vulnerable Sector Check.
