At Central Alberta Co-op (CAC), we’re seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Business Support Centre in Red Deer, helping maintain the efficiency and safety of our operations.
Position: Maintenance Technician
Full-time: 40 hours per week. Eligible for benefits after 3 months. If you are relocating from another province, please ensure you have AB Health coverage to be covered by our plan provider.
Availability: Weekdays and weekends: Mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Extended hours as needed.
Responsibilities
- Support location and department leaders and team members, completing general maintenance tasks around CAC facilities, ensuring the buildings and equipment are functioning efficiently and safely.
- Support the Facilities Manager, fellow maintenance technicians, the locations and contractors to ensure compliance with CAC policies.
- Work collaboratively with the maintenance team and Facilities Manager and team members to improve operations and efficiency.
- Perform general maintenance tasks such as routine inspections, minor repairs, and upkeep of building infrastructure.
- Assist with HVAC preventative maintenance, including cleaning filters, changing belts, and performing basic checks.
- Conduct basic electrical repairs such as replacing light bulbs, fuses, switches, outlets.
- Respond to emergency repair requests and complete work orders in a timely manner.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager
Qualifications
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: HVAC, minor plumbing, minor electrical, carpentry, irrigation, or carwash maintenance.
- 5–8 years’ experience in facility and equipment maintenance.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance tools, equipment, and safety procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow instructions.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; some heavy lifting is required.
- A valid driver’s licence (Class 5 minimum).
- Journeyman Certificate (Millwright, Electrician, Refrigeration) and/or HVAC Certificate considered assets.
This position requires frequent travel between locations across Central Alberta in the communities we serve. Travel may be required to meet contractors and vendors on-site, complete maintenance tasks, and assist at alternate locations as needed.
