Job summary

Chartwell Retirement Residences in Victoria, BC, is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to keep the residence safe, functional and welcoming for residents and staff. You will oversee daily maintenance operations, lead a dedicated team, and support a clean, efficient environment aligned with our mission. The role follows a Tuesday–Saturday 11:00 a.m.

to 7:00 p.m. shift and reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications

• Trade certification or maintenance training preferred.
• Experience with carpentry, plumbing, painting and equipment preferred.
• Supervisory or leadership experience in maintenance/building operations.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills; able to plan and prioritize work.
• Clear communicator with customer service and conflict resolution skills.
• Knowledge of safety procedures within healthcare is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Lead and schedule maintenance and housekeeping teams to ensure high standards and timely service.
• Perform and supervise minor repairs in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and building systems.
• Plan and execute preventative maintenance schedules to keep all residence areas in top condition.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and fire regulations, including drills and safety audits.
• Source and manage maintenance supplies and vendor services cost-effectively.
• Respond to resident and family concerns, and elevate as needed to the General Manager.

Are you a hands‑on leader with a passion for safety, upkeep, and team development? As Maintenance Supervisor at Chartwell, you’ll ensure the residence is safe, functional, and welcoming for our residents and staff. You’ll oversee daily maintenance operations, lead a dedicated team, and support a clean and efficient environment that our residents are proud to call home.

Shift details – Tuesday – Saturday – 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

What You’ll Do

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver’s license may be required
• Ability to perform physical duties, including lifting, bending, kneeling, and climbing
• Must carry a company‑issued phone and respond to emergency situations as needed
• Comfortable using AI and other digital platform systems and tools to support daily work
• Clear Criminal Background Check, VSS and TB Test where required
