Job summary

Luther College at the University of Regina invites applications for a casual part-time term housekeeping position in the Luther College residence and classroom facility. Beginning mid September 2026 with potential extension, reporting to the Supervisor of Custodial Services, duties include daily cleaning and upkeep.

Weekend shifts are required, with the possibility of weekday mornings and evenings. Applicants who are students are encouraged to apply, training will be provided and security checks

Qualifications

• Experience with cleaning practices; training provided.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals; WHMIS considered an asset.
• Must be physically able to lift moderately heavy items and perform repetitive motions.
• Experience operating janitorial equipment is an asset.
• Criminal record check will be required.

Responsibilities

• Clean corridors and washrooms by mopping floors, scrubbing walls, replacing paper, and cleaning fixtures.
• Vacuum and mop student lounges, kitchens, and classrooms; move furniture as needed.
• Clean laundry room and launder linens as scheduled.
• Vacuum and clean various spaces including offices and lounges; move furniture for access.
• Prepare rooms for conference guests and perform linen changes as scheduled.
• Other duties as assigned.

Luther College at the University of Regina (www.luthercollege.edu/university) invites applications for a casual part-time term housekeeping position beginning mid September 2026 – April 2027 with the possibility of extension. Reporting to the Supervisor of Custodial Services, this position will be responsible for performing duties pertaining to the daily cleaning of the Luther College residence and classroom facility.

Weekend shifts required, with the possibility of weekday mornings and evenings.

Responsibilities

• Clean corridors and washroom areas by mopping floors, scrubbing walls, cleaning grouting, emptying garbage receptacles, replacing paper in dispensers, cleaning toilets, showers, mirrors, and counter surfaces;
• Clean student lounge areas and kitchenettes by vacuuming or mopping floors, moving furniture as required to access all floor surfaces. Empty garbage receptacles, cleans counters, appliances, counter surfaces and other areas as required;
• Clean the “Cellar” laundry room by mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming floor surfaces, emptying garbage receptacles and cleaning washers and dryers;
• Vacuum floors, hallways, classrooms, offices, lounges and other carpeted areas in the academic building. This includes moving of furniture to ensure complete access to all floor surfaces;
• During conference season, clean rooms for occupancy by conference guests by making beds, vacuuming floors, cleaning hard surfaces. Responsible for performing linen changes in guest rooms as scheduled and for laundering soiled linens;
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Experience with cleaning practices and procedures associated with the variety of cleaning duties associated with this position would be an asset, but training will be provided so experience is not essential;
• A commitment to health and safety practices and procedures is required. Knowledge of cleaning materials and chemicals used in the College and the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) would be considered an asset;
• The incumbent must be physically able to routinely lift moderately heavy loads such as garbage receptacles, cleaning supply containers, and paper products. In addition, there is repetitive motion associated with vacuuming, scrubbing of hard surfaces, and mopping of floors. Most of the day will be spent walking, bending, or kneeling in the performance of cleaning duties;
• Experience operating equipment such as vacuum cleaners, washers, dryers, and equipment typically found in a janitorial environment would be considered an asset;
• As this position may interact with students, a criminal record check will be required;
• Affinity with the goals of Luther College and the small college environment in which flexibility, warmth, and cordiality are necessary and valued.

Working Conditions

This is a casual position as needed. Shifts will require weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and evening work, with the possibility of weekday mornings or evenings.

Salary

The salary for this position is $15.35 per hour.
