Casual Substitute Administrative Assistant

Luther College High School invites applicants for a Casual Substitute Administrative Assistant. Reporting to the Principal, this position may be called upon from time to time to support the day‑to‑day operations of the main office by providing reception, basic student and faculty support, and general administrative assistance.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Serve as the first point of contact for visitors, parents, students, and members of the public by answering phones, greeting visitors, answering the door, and directing inquiries as appropriate.
• Monitor and respond to general main office emails as required.
• Receive and distribute mail and deliveries.
• Book courier pick‑ups as required.
• Assist with general office organization and administrative tasks.
• Maintain and update daily student attendance records.
• Assist with preparing daily announcements as required.
• Direct communication and inquiries to the appropriate staff member or administrator as required.
• Other related administrative duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous administrative, reception, or office experience is preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and communications skills, with the ability to interact professionally and positively with students, parents, staff, visitors, and the public.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.
• Comfortable working independently and using good judgement.
• Proficiency with common computer applications, including email, word, excel, and other office technology.
• A friendly, approachable, and professional manner.
• Affinity with the goals of Luther College and the small college environment in which flexibility, warmth, and cordiality are necessary and valued.
• A satisfactory criminal record check including a vulnerable sector check will be required.

Salary and Benefits

The hourly wage for this position is $21.00 per hour which includes vacation pay.
