Job summary

Germain Hotels is seeking a Maintenance Handyperson to perform interior and exterior upkeep across the hotel complex. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will inspect equipment, carry out preventive maintenance, and address repair needs to keep facilities running smoothly.

You should be able to handle light electrical, plumbing and mechanical tasks, lift up to 100 pounds and work safely according to building codes and health & safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance.
• High school diploma or college diploma in mechanical tech is asset.
• Capable of handling heavy materials and labour-intensive work.

Responsibilities

• Visual inspection of equipment.
• Participate in preventive building maintenance procedures.
• Perform daily maintenance and schedule your activities.
• Perform interior and exterior work.
• Report defective systems and correct them.
• Possible material gathering outside the property.
• Assist moving, lifting, and carrying objects on stairs or ramps.
• Maintain mechanical components under supervision.
• Perform minor electrical tasks (e.g., changing light bulbs).
• Follow service manuals during maintenance and comply with safety and codes.

Description

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager of a hotel complex, the Maintenance Handyperson performs general interior and exterior maintenance work. The incumbent must be able to carry out tasks related to building mechanics, electrical work, plumbing, painting, and various minor repairs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Proceed to visual inspection of the equipment
• Actively participate in preventive building maintenance procedures
• Perform daily maintenance work and reflect their activities in their schedule
• Perform interior and exterior work
• Report any defective systems and make the necessary corrections
• Possibility of gathering materiel outside the property
• Assist with moving, lifting, carrying, and placing of objects by move up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladder
• Responsible for maintaining all mechanical component of the building under the supervision of the maintenance supervisor
• Proceed to minor electrical work (ex: light bulbs change)
• Ensure that service manuals are follow during preventive maintenance, repair or replacement of systems or components and adhere to sound engineering practices, building codes and health & safety precautions

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Experience in building maintenance
• High school Diploma or College diploma in mechanical technic of a building or an equivalent is an asset
• In good physical condition, capable of handling heavy materials and perform labour intensive duties, move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 100 pounds without assistance

The hourly salary for this role is between $22.00 and $26.00 depending on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
