Job summary

Germain Hotels group in Ontario is seeking a Maintenance Handyperson to perform general interior and exterior maintenance across a hotel complex, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, painting and minor repairs. The role requires hands-on skills, physical fitness, and a proactive approach to upkeep.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will inspect equipment, execute preventive maintenance, log daily activities, and assist with material handling and safe operations across site.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance.
• High school diploma or college diploma in mechanical technology is an asset.
• In good physical condition, capable of handling heavy materials and labor-intensive duties.

Responsibilities

• Visual inspection of the equipment.
• Actively participate in preventive building maintenance procedures.
• Perform daily maintenance work and reflect their activities in their schedule.
• Perform interior and exterior work.
• Report any defective systems and make the necessary corrections.
• Possibility of gathering materials outside the property.
• Assist with moving, lifting, carrying, and placing of objects by moving up and down stairs, service ramps, and/or ladders.
• Responsible for maintaining all mechanical components of the building under the supervision of the maintenance supervisor.
• Proceed to minor electrical work (e.g., light bulbs change).
• Ensure service manuals are followed during preventive maintenance, repair or replacement of systems or components and adhere to codes and safety precautions.

Pay or shift range: $23.14 CAD to $28 CAD

If the role is unionized, compensation follows the current collective agreement. Where applicable, this position may also be eligible for a discretionary bonus plan.

Description

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager of a hotel complex, the Maintenance Handyperson performs general interior and exterior maintenance work. The incumbent must be able to carry out tasks related to building mechanics, electrical work, plumbing, painting, and various minor repairs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Proceed to visual inspection of the equipment
• Actively participate in preventive building maintenance procedures
• Perform daily maintenance work and reflect their activities in their schedule
• Perform interior and exterior work
• Report any defective systems and make the necessary corrections
• Possibility of gathering materiel outside the property

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Experience in building maintenance
• High school Diploma or College diploma in mechanical technic of a building or an equivalent is an asset
• In good physical condition, capable of handling heavy materials and perform labour intensive duties, move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 100 pounds without assistance

The hourly range for this role is between 23,14$ and 28,00$ per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
