The overall responsibility covers ongoing maintenance and support of the mainframe automation environment and to assist senior team leaders. The role also provides automation enhancements resulting from requirements for operability and availability initiatives as well as restoration of service identified through root cause analysis of any problems with the system.

Key Responsibilities

• Will learn all aspects of mainframe automation components and related services.
• Is responsible for the planning, testing, implementation of automation software.
• Designs, codes, and tests modifications to system automation software.
• Analyzes and resolves automation and related operational problems to meet SLA’s and incur minimal impacts.
• Creates detailed documentation related to the suite of automation products, software interfaces, API’s, and external systems for operations and support to assess impacts and troubleshoot issues.
• Conducts research with vendors related to software products and options for the purpose of system currency.
• Adheres to standard Change and Problem Management processes for implementation and support.
• Participates in key departmental initiatives, including site backup exercises, to meet organizational BCP requirements.
• Identifies and avoids any potential bottlenecks that might present a threat to system security or user services.
• Tests and verifies security controls in fixes, and new or upgraded products.
• Contributes to BMO Financial Group’s overall business results by making recommendations that improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Skills

• Possesses a university degree/college diploma in Computer Science or equivalent work experience, and/or 3-6 years experience in Banking applications or software support environment.
• Maintains solid knowledge of supported products and platform including GDPS, IBM Z System Automation, NetView, NetView Program-to-Program Interface (PPI), Communications Server, XCF, LU 6.2, large system architecture.
• Demonstrates skills in the following programming languages: Assembler and Java. Scripting languages for mainframe (REXX and CLIST), Windows (PowerShell), and Linux.
• Demonstrates applied skill in one or more of: debugging techniques, online text editor or system interface tools, system design, data access methods, software maintenance practices.
• Displays solid knowledge in terms of Problem Management, Change Management, Implementation Processes, Configuration and Release Management.
• Exhibits advanced knowledge in TSO, ISPF, SDSF, ESP, CLISTS, SMP/E, RACF, ServiceNow, TPX, JCL, USS.

Salary: $74,800.00 - $138,600.00

Pay Type: Salaried

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
