Job description

Marketing Automation Specialist

Job Description:

Are you someone who loves building clean, effective email marketing automation workflows that help marketers deliver the right message at the right time? At Sage, our Marketing Automation Specialists turn strategy into action—translating campaign strategy into targeted, high-performing automated programs.

This is a focused, technically hands-on execution role—you won’t be creating campaign strategy or content. You’ll work closely with Campaign Managers, using their assets and audience plans to build automated emails, landing pages, gated forms, and lead workflows that support the customer journey. You’ll also analyze performance data from your automation builds to identify workflow issues and advise on improvements. You’ll thrive here if you’re not just technically sharp, but also a thoughtful collaborator. You’ll help Campaign Managers shape their ideas into executable workflows—advising on what’s possible, setting realistic expectations, and building trust with your stakeholders through consistency and attention to detail. If you enjoy learning, navigating grey areas, and having real conversations (not just managing tickets), this is your role.

Minimum Qualifications

• 4 years of experience in email marketing and marketing automation.

• Advanced experience with a marketing automation platform (example: Eloqua, Marketo, HubSpot, Pardot or similar)

• Strong understanding of data flow in marketing automation, including building nurture campaigns and executing segmentation and personalization within the MAP

• Experience analyzing campaign performance within a MAP, with the ability to speak to measurement criteria (e.g., deliverability, conversions, drop-offs) and how insights inform future workflows

• Basic HTML and CSS skills for navigating and making light adjustments to existing email templates—this role does not involve coding emails from scratch

• Effective communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate your experience, ideas, and approach when collaborating with others or walking through your work

• Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across teams

Location Requirement: Hybrid; 3 days per week from our Vancouver or Toronto office

Key Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and execute automated marketing workflows using a marketing automation platform (we use Eloqua), including email journeys, landing pages, and forms

• Implement A/B testing, personalization, and dynamic content to support engagement goals set by Campaign Managers

• Manage both once-off and always-on campaigns using complex workflow logic and data-driven triggers

• Configure and maintain lead flow between the marketing automation platform and Salesforce, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

• Create and update campaign landing pages in Sitecore, integrate Gated Content forms, and set up webinar automation using tools like GoToWebinar and ON24.

• Troubleshoot and refine automation workflows to ensure accurate delivery, timing, and segmentation.

• Partner with Campaign Managers to advise on automation flow design based on campaign goals—offering input on how to technically implement segmentation within the MAP, structure nurture journeys, and share performance insights (e.g., deliverability, drop-offs)
