Job Title: M&A Senior Analyst

Valsoft is looking for a talented, versatile, and passionate person to lead the fact-finding due-diligence mission of our M&A target companies.

The role:

Reporting to one of our Investment Partners (IPs), the Sr M&A Analyst will work in an extremely entrepreneurial environment joining the rest of our M&A team in our Montreal office. They will carry out a thorough investigation of target companies, with the ultimate goal of deciding if capital deployment and investment is the right move.

This is an incredible opportunity to influence how we invest and deploy large capital at an extremely fast pace. With the potential to, in time, grow into a full-cycle M&A professional with salesmanship and charisma for business development activities, while leveraging your analytical and financial due diligence expertise.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Conduct thorough due diligence assessments on target companies by analyzing complex data sets to identify crucial financial and business information.
  2. Perform financial analysis and modelling to evaluate deal structures and projected performance of early-stage investment opportunities.
  3. Provide execution support to deal leads through acquisition process by collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  4. Prepare reports and presentations summarizing due diligence findings.
  5. Conduct market and industry research to identify trends and risks.
  6. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices by researching and understanding target markets and economic factors.
  7. Support deal negotiations and post-merger integration planning.

About you:

  1. 2-5 years of experience in a similar role like Investment Banking, Private Equity, M&A or Corporate Development.
  2. Bachelor's degree or higher in either Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or another quantitative field.
  3. Demonstrated experience of business analysis (case studies or online articles a bonus).
  4. Intermediate/Advanced financial modelling skills.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  6. CFA or CIIA.
  7. Familiarity with a buy and build model and VMS or software experience/knowledge.
  8. Fluent in additional languages (German, French, Dutch, Spanish).
  9. Legally authorized to work in Canada.
