Job summary

The Lower Deck in Halifax is seeking a friendly, professional, and safety-conscious Door Attendant, the first point of contact for guests, to uphold safety standards while creating a welcoming atmosphere.

You will monitor access, check IDs, enforce rules, handle difficult situations with tact, and collaborate with staff to ensure a safe, enjoyable environment for all patrons, including post-shift closing duties.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced bar environment.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and late nights.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills to support a busy venue.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control access to the establishment.
  • Check IDs and verify age requirements.
  • Maintain order and enforce venue rules and safety standards.
  • Manage difficult situations with professionalism and tact.
  • Escort unruly guests from the premises when needed.
  • Collaborate with staff to ensure a safe, enjoyable environment.
  • Assist with closing duties including tidying, garbage and recycling.

Job Description

Under the direction of the General Manager, we are looking for a friendly, professional, and safety-conscious Door Attendant at Lower Deck, who will be the first point of contact for our guests, creating a welcoming environment while maintaining safety standards.

What you will be doing as a Door Attendant:
  • Monitoring and controlling access to the establishment;
  • Checking ids and ensuring that all patrons meet age requirements;
  • Maintaining order and enforcing rules and regulations;
  • Handling difficult situations with professionalism and tact;
  • Escorting unruly guests out of the establishment;
  • Collaborating with other staff members to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all;
  • Helping service staff close building including but not limited to – ensuring all guests have departed, tidying up, taking out garbage and recycling;
  • Such other similar or related duties as may be required from time to time.
The person we are looking for has:
  • Similar experience in an environment is considered an asset;
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment;
  • Organizational skills;
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and late nights.
