Job summary

The Lower Deck, a Halifax institution, is hiring a Server Assistant to support the service team and maintain a seamless flow and cleanliness in the dining room. Under the direction of the General Manager, you will help prepare tables, assist servers, and ensure guest experiences meet our high standards.

Qualifications

  • Serve Right Certification is required.
  • Experience in a similar restaurant is an asset.
  • Ability to stay calm in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to take direction and prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and resetting tables quickly and efficiently.
  • Maintaining cleanliness at tables during service (removing plates, glassware, cutlery and debris).
  • Restocking bar supplies (liquor, beer, wine, garnishes, glassware, etc.).
  • Keeping bar stations clean and organized.
  • Communicating to all servers any comments or information provided by guests to ensure a positive, memorable experience.
  • Keenly following all food safety standards and systems.
  • Such other similar or related duties as may be required from time to time.

About Lower Deck

A Halifax institution since 1974, the original Lower Deck Pub opened its doors on the Halifax waterfront in 1974, combining our proud Nova Scotian hospitality with great food, great beer and local entertainment. It is the city’s original home of East Coast music, cold pints, and good times on the waterfront. With live music, hearty pub fare, and a come-as-you-are spirit, it remains a cornerstone of local culture and hospitality for visitors and regulars alike.

Under the direction of the General Manager, we are looking for a Server Assistant at Lower Deck, responsible for supporting the service team and ensuring a seamless flow of service and overall cleanliness of the restaurant.

What you will be doing as a Server Assistant:
  • Cleaning and resetting tables quickly and efficiently;
  • Maintaining cleanliness at tables during service (removing plates, glassware, cutlery and debris);
  • Restocking bar supplies (liquor, beer, wine, garnishes, glassware, etc.);
  • Keeping bar stations clean and organized;
  • Communicating to all servers any comments or information provided by guests to ensure a positive, memorable experience;
  • Keenly following all food safety standards and systems;
  • Such other similar or related duties as may be required from time to time.
The person we are looking for has:
  • A valid Serve Right Certification;
  • Previous experience in a similar restaurant is considered an asset;
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment;
  • Organizational skills;
  • Ability to take direction and prioritize a variety of tasks at once;
