Job summary

OPENLANE Canada is seeking a casual part-time Lot Driver to support our lot operations team. You will move and prep vehicles for reconditioning, auction, and transport, and maintain an orderly, safe yard.

You’ll work 1–3 eight-hour shifts per week in varied weather, logging vehicle movements in AuctionTrac, and assisting with basic tasks such as fueling, tire checks, and door lockouts. Valid license and safety mindset required.

Qualifications

  • Must have Valid Full Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Basic computer & smartphone skills required.
  • Basic vehicle knowledge.
  • Comfortable working outside in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare vehicles to move through our remarketing system, including staging vehicles for reconditioning shops or transportation as well as moving, marking, flagging, and/or staging vehicles as instructed.
  • Assist with preparing vehicles for auction or transport, ensuring vehicles are in working order (fuel, tow, etc.) and accurately record services for billing.
  • Scan parked vehicles in the AuctionTrac system to maintain accurate inventory and record movement of vehicles on the lot.
  • May assist drivers with road-worthiness checks (tires, fuel, lights, signals & brakes).
  • Operate vehicles under various weather conditions and assist with snow removal when needed.

We’re looking for:

As a Lot Driver, you will work as part of our lot operations team, assisting with movement of vehicles within the Vehicle Logistic Centers (VLC), including staging vehicles for recon, mechanical, transport, sales or designated storage areas.

This is a casual/part-time position, typically scheduled for 1-3 eight hour shifts per week.

You Are:

  • Adaptable. You will be able to pause & shift tasks to assist other departments with priority requests.
  • Organized. You will be responsible for maintaining an organized and orderly lot to ensure efficient operations, including completing regular inventory scans and reporting.
  • Team Oriented. As an integral part of our lot team, you will ensure an efficient flow of vehicles to support other departments’ workloads.
You Will:
  • Prepare vehicles to move through our remarketing system, including staging vehicles for reconditioning shops or transportation as well as moving, marking, flagging, and/or staging vehicles as instructed.
  • Assist with preparing vehicles for auction or transport, ensuring vehicles are in working order (i.e. boosting, adding gas, attending to lock outs, preparing for towing, and filling tires) Accurately record any services provided (fuel, tow, etc) to ensure accurate billing.
  • Scan parked vehicles in the AuctionTrac system to maintain accurate inventory and record movement of vehicles on the lot.
  • May assist drivers with ensuring that vehicles are road-worthy by checking tires, fuel, lights, signals & brakes.
  • Operate vehicles under various weather conditions and may be required to manually remove snow through various means (clearing vehicles of snow, light shoveling in the yard, etc).
Must Haves:
  • Valid Full Class 5 Driver's License
  • Safety conscious
  • Basic computer & smartphone skills required
  • Basic vehicle knowledge
  • Comfortable working outside in all weather conditions
Nice to Haves:
  • Ability to drive a standard and automatic transmission
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Experience using AuctionTrac
  • Prior experience with snow removal, including operating plow truck / bobcat is an asset

Compensation Range of Hourly: $18.90 - $18.90 (Depending on experience, skill set, qualifications, and other relevant factors.)
