Job summary

OPENLANE is seeking a Logistics Specialist to develop and maintain strong customer service for OPENLANE Logistics transportation. You will be the primary contact for transportation, ensuring prompt and courteous attention, confirming needs, and verifying pickup details across multiple channels.

You will analyze aging reports, coordinate with sellers and buyers, and maintain smooth communications with the manager and team.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of related experience in logistics or dispatching.
  • Tech-savvy; comfortable using Google Suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to stay calm and diplomatic in dispute resolution situations.
  • Autonomous, self-driven, proactive and a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a point of contact for transportation; provide prompt, courteous service to customers.
  • Assist customers in confirming transportation needs and verify locations before pickup.
  • Run aging reports and coordinate with sellers and buyers on outstanding shipments.
  • Ensure clear follow-up on directives, schedules and systems with management.
  • Maintain good communication with the supervisor and other personnel.
  • Resolve customer complaints in a friendly, professional manner and escalate when needed.

We’re looking for:

The Logistics Specialist develops and maintains strong customer service skills and supports OPENLANE Logistics transportation service. Daily duties require providing accurate, friendly and quality service to customers when interacting with customers via phone, text and email. Additionally, being able to effectively utilize tools and procedures to ensure workload is completed daily. Last, reporting on transportation department activities to local management and our corporate office.

You are:
  • Organized. You are comfortable working in a fast paced environment, and can stay organized when handling multiple tasks.
  • Detail-oriented. You will ensure a high degree of accuracy in your tasks, in accordance with our customer and company requirements.
  • Team-oriented. You will support the Transport Supervisor/Manager with the day to day, and willing to jump in where needed to assist.
  • Customer-focused. Maintain excellent customer service, strong telephone support and ability to answer or research the answer to customer questions.
You will:
  • Act as a point of contact for transportation and ensure customers receive prompt, efficient and courteous attention.
  • Assist customers with confirming their Transportation needs.
  • Verify vehicle locations and delivery address prior to pick up.
  • Run aging reports and contact sellers and buyers regarding outstanding shipments.
  • Make sure customers receive prompt, efficient and courteous attention for all contacts and transactions.
  • Resolve any customer complaints in a friendly, courteous manner.
  • Advise manager or designated supervisor of all serious complaints or incidences.
  • Assist customers in understanding OPENLANE systems, where applicable, and elevate any system issues appropriately.

  • Ensure proper follow-through on all directives, bulletins, schedules and accounting from manager or designated supervisor or other corporate sources.
  • Maintain a good flow of communication with the Manager or designated supervisor and other personnel.
Must haves:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 1-3 Years’ of related experience in a logistics or dispatching role
  • Tech-savvy, and comfortable using Google Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain calm and diplomatic in dispute resolution situations
  • Autonomous, self-driven, proactive and a team player
Nice to Haves:
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset
  • Self-starter who can assess work volumes and ensure timely completion of prioritized tasks
  • Experience with AMS, VTrace, and other OPENLANE systems
