Job summary

Hancon Mining Division Inc. in Timmins, Ontario is seeking an experienced underground blaster to perform production longhole blasting and cable bolting.

The role requires hands-on expertise in loading, charging, detonating and securing underground blast holes to support safe, efficient mine development. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in longhole blasting, Ontario hard rock miner core modules, and proven cable bolting experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of underground longhole blasting experience.
• Ontario Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core with longhole and blasting modules.
• Underground cable bolting experience.
• Experience loading detonators, charging and firing longholes.
• Strong understanding of explosives handling and blast safety.
• Ability to read blast plans and ground-support specs.
• Experience in both blasting disciplines is ideal.
• Physically demanding environment and ability to work underground.
• Valid driver’s license and eligibility to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Prepare production longholes for blasting.
• Load and charge production blast holes.
• Install detonators and blasting components.
• Complete stemming and blast preparation.
• Conduct firing activities per procedures and regulations.
• Inspect holes and assess loading or blasting conditions.
• Perform underground cable bolting activities.
• Prepare and install cable bolts per ground-support specs.
• Operate blasting equipment and tooling.
• Maintain blasting and production records.
• Coordinate with supervisors, engineering, ground control and operations.
• Keep blasting areas safe and organized.

This position will join our team working in Timmins, Ontarioon a full-time basis. The schedule willprimarily depend on employee location and travel requirements.

This position offers a salary range of $55.00 - $70.00 perhour.

PrimaryResponsibilities

This is a combined position. Candidatesmust have demonstrated experience and competency in both production longholeblasting and cable bolting.

Key responsibilities include:

• Prepareproduction longholes for blasting
• Loadand charge production blast holes
• Installdetonators and associated blasting components
• Completestemming and blast preparation
• Conductfiring activities in accordance with approved procedures and applicableregulations
• Inspectholes and identify conditions that may affect loading or blasting
• Performunderground cable bolting activities
• Prepareand install cable bolts in accordance with engineered ground-supportrequirements
• Operateapplicable cable bolting equipment and supporting tools
• Handleexplosives and blasting accessories in accordance with legislation andsite procedures
• Maintainaccurate blasting and production records
• Coordinatewith supervisors, engineering, ground control and operations personnel
• Maintainsafe, organized blasting and cable-bolting work areas

PreferredExperience

• Minimum2+ years of relevant underground longhole blasting experience
• OntarioUnderground Hard Rock Miner Common Core with applicable longhole andblasting modules
• Demonstratedunderground cable bolting experience
• Experiencewith production longhole loading electronic and non-electronic detonators,charging and firing
• Strongunderstanding of underground explosives handling and blast safety
• Abilityto interpret blast plans and ground-support specifications
• Idealcandidates will be experienced in both disciplines
• Abilityto work in a physically demanding environment
• Validdriver’s license
• Eligibleto work in Canada
