About Origin Sustainables

Origin Sustainables is a Canadian supplier and importer of sustainable foodservice packaging serving multi‑unit restaurant groups, QSR brands, and enterprise customers across Canada.

We are more than a packaging distributor. Our customers rely on us for tailored packaging solutions, direct sourcing, quality control, inventory planning, logistics coordination, implementation support, and reliable supply chain execution across complex packaging programs.

We work directly with end users while often fulfilling through broadline distributors and other channel partners. Reliable execution depends on accurate shipment planning, strong coordination with carriers and warehouses, clear inventory visibility, and proactive communication when timelines or service levels are at risk.

About the Role

We are looking for an organized, detail‑oriented, and hands‑on Logistics Coordinator to provide 12-14 month temporary coverage for our day‑to‑day logistics operations.

You will coordinate international and domestic freight, customs and shipping documentation, 3PL and warehouse activity, local distribution, order fulfillment, inventory movement tracking, and logistics support for customer and product launches. You will work closely with Operations, Sales/Account Management, Sourcing, Finance, carriers, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and warehouse partners to keep shipments and orders moving and to communicate exceptions early. This is an execution‑focused coordination role. You will work within approved processes and commercial arrangements.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate approved international and domestic shipments, including ocean freight, air freight, drayage, courier, and local transport.
  • Arrange bookings, delivery appointments, customs broker hand‑offs, warehouse instructions, and proof‑of‑delivery follow‑up.
  • Track shipment milestones, ETAs, customs status, receipts, transfers, outbound orders, and delivery exceptions.
  • Liaise with carriers, freight forwarders, brokers, 3PLs, warehouses, and internal teams to resolve day‑to‑day execution issues.
  • Manage daily 3PL and warehouse coordination for inbound receiving, put‑away, inventory availability, order fulfillment, outbound shipping, transfers, and returns.
  • Maintain accurate logistics, inventory, order, and shipment records in NetSuite and related trackers.
  • Reconcile shipment, receiving, and order information and elevate shortages, damages, delays, inventory discrepancies, or service risks promptly.
  • Match shipment records and supporting documents to carrier or warehouse charges and flag discrepancies for review.
  • Coordinate approved logistics activities for customer and product launches, including packaging trials, phased shipments, and delivery scheduling.
  • Communicate delivery status, timing changes, and exceptions proactively to client‑facing and internal teams.
  • Maintain SOPs, shipping standards, trackers, exception logs, and operational documentation.
  • Identify recurring execution issues and recommend practical process or system improvements.

What We’re Looking For

  • 2-4 years of hands‑on experience in logistics coordination, freight forwarding, import/export, distribution, warehousing, order fulfillment, or a related operations role.
  • Working knowledge of international and domestic shipping processes, customs documentation, freight milestones, 3PL operations, and delivery coordination.
  • Strong organization and follow‑through, with the ability to manage multiple time‑sensitive shipments and orders at once.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, system records, and operational communication.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and confidence working with carriers, brokers, warehouses, customers, and cross‑functional teams.
  • Practical problem‑solving ability and sound judgement about when to resolve an issue directly and when to
  • Comfort using ERP systems and spreadsheets and working with evolving processes and imperfect information.
  • Comfort working full‑time in office in Vancouver for the 12-14 month contract term.

Strong Assets

  • Experience in packaging, foodservice, CPG, distribution, wholesale, import/export, manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain.
  • Experience coordinating ocean freight, air freight, customs brokers, drayage, local transport, and Canadian 3PL partners.
  • Diploma or degree in supply chain, logistics, operations, business, or a related field.
  • Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP/WMS and strong Excel or spreadsheet skills.
  • Experience supporting customer implementations, phased deliveries, distributor fulfillment, or complex B2B supply programs.

Why Join Origin?

This is an opportunity to take ownership of meaningful day‑to‑day logistics execution in a growing Canadian company. You will work closely with the Director, Operations and cross‑functionally with Sales/Account Management, Sourcing, Finance, carriers, brokers, and warehouse partners.

During the contract term, you will gain broad exposure to international freight, 3PL operations, inventory movement, customer delivery programs, and implementation logistics while helping Origin maintain reliable service and clear operational visibility.
