Overview
Our client, a well-established global manufacturing organization, is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to join their Distribution team on an 18-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a logistics professional to gain hands‑on experience across inbound and outbound logistics, international shipments, transportation coordination, 3PL operations, customs documentation, and distribution.
About the Role
The Logistics Coordinator will support the Distribution department with day‑to‑day logistics coordination, administrative functions, and departmental projects. This position will work closely with carriers, 3PL providers, warehouses, customs brokers, customers, sales, and internal teams to ensure shipments are coordinated accurately and delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare shipping documentation and coordinate transportation schedules with carriers.
- Track shipments and monitor on‑time delivery from warehouses to customers.
- Schedule inbound and outbound containers to warehouses.
- Build shipment loads from 3PL warehouses and coordinate deliveries with 3PL providers.
- Review, control, and approve freight charges and invoices.
- Process freight claims, shipping errors, RGAs, and damaged or missing product claims.
- Track shipping accuracy and on‑time delivery KPIs.
- Schedule and monitor inbound shipments to ensure timely delivery.
- Prepare and coordinate Advance Shipping Notifications (ASN) and customs documentation.
- Collect, verify, and submit shipping documents to customs brokers.
- Coordinate imported containers between warehouses, carriers, drayage providers, and 3PLs.
- Work closely with warehouse managers, carriers, brokers, and drayage companies to minimize detention and demurrage charges.
- Coordinate customer delivery appointments for inbound containers.
- Follow up on shipments and communicate ETA updates to customers and internal sales teams.
- Review and approve logistics invoices.
- Process claims related to damaged or missing products.
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in cycle counting and inventory activities.
- Replenish office and warehouse supplies.
- Provide support to warehouse operations as required.
- Assist with various Distribution department projects and administrative tasks.
Qualifications
- University degree in Supply Chain, Business, E-Commerce, Data Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant logistics or supply chain experience.
- Understanding of logistics processes and terminology.
- Experience coordinating inbound and outbound shipments.
- Experience working with transportation carriers and shipping documentation.
- Knowledge of Bills of Lading (BOLs), customs clearance, commercial invoices, packing lists, and related shipping documentation.
- Experience scheduling inbound and outbound containers.
- Experience coordinating shipments with warehouses and/or 3PL providers.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and reporting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive approach with the ability to take ownership and work independently.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience with SAP, SAP S/4HANA, or another ERP system.
- Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Experience with ocean freight, international imports, customs brokers, freight forwarders, ports, or drayage providers.
