Job summary

Fairmont Royal York in Toronto is seeking an Assistant Server to support guest service delivery in the Lobby Lounge. You’ll help prepare stations, assist during peak meal periods, and contribute to a seamless guest experience in a landmark hotel.

This role requires punctuality, teamwork, knowledge of menu, safety and hygiene standards, and flexibility to work weekends and holidays. On-site work five days a week with training and real growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous work experience in a restaurant/food and beverage setting.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player attitude.
• OTEC certificate an asset.
• Flexibility with shifts of the outlet dependent on business demands
• Willingness to learn new concepts and ideas.
• Smart Serve Training Certification.
• Experience working in Unionized Environment

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a positive working relationship with guests and the team.
• Report for duty punctually in full uniform according to appearance and grooming standards.
• Understand the food and drink offerings, including dietary restrictions, and answer guests' questions.
• Follow Lobby Lounge policies, procedures and service standards as outlined in the Royal York Colleague Handbook.
• Demonstrate knowledge of all steps of service and perform duties to set standards.
• Assist all Guests with inquiries or requests in a pleasant, helpful manner.
• Attend pre-shift, weekly and monthly meetings to continually improve the Guests experience.
• Carry out miscellaneous duties as requested by your Manager for total quality service.
• Understand how to operate all equipment used in the outlet.
• Follow the hotel’s recycling program and hygiene procedures.
• Adhere to ALL Safe Standards and alcohol handling procedures.
• Adhere to LQA standards for the department.
• Will work weekends, holidays and shift work as scheduled.
• Any other tasks as assigned.
