Job summary

Fairmont Royal York in Toronto seeks an Assistant Manager for Library Bar & Clockwork. The role oversees day-to-day restaurant operations, staff performance, and guest experience, ensuring quality, cost control, and compliance with health standards.

You will manage budgets, schedules, and training, while participating in departmental meetings and striving for excellence in luxury hospitality. This is a full-time position in a unionized, high-standard hotel environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management is an asset.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in hospitality management.
• Strong command of food & beverage knowledge and trends.
• Computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Fluent in English; a second language is an asset.
• Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
• Knowledge of general accounting principles and policies.
• Smart Serve Certification.
• Physical demands include standing, lifting up to 30 lbs, and ladder use.

Responsibilities

• Supervises day to day function of all restaurant employees, facilities, sales, and costs.
• Analyzes quality levels of production, guest satisfaction, employee satisfaction and operating costs.
• Establishes and maintains effective employee relations.
• Conducts interviews, hiring, orientation, training, coaching and scheduling.
• Attends weekly food & beverage departmental meetings.
• Performs cleaning inspections to meet health standards.
• Participates in service as required and ensures grooming standards.
• Manages stock controls for daily restaurant needs.
• Ensures health and safety procedures are followed by staff.
• Assists in budget preparation and department goals.
• Maintains schedules, cleaning logs, opening/closing duties and logs.
• Tracks sales statistics and other reports to maximise outlet profits.
• Contributes to hotel committees and events.
• Maintains safety and hygiene standards and adheres to alcohol handling policies.
