Job description

The primary responsibility of the Literacy Support Worker is to support the work of the Literacy Coordinator and Instructor in creating a welcoming and safe space for individuals to continue their learning journey. This is a casual contract position of 9 hours per week.

Job responsibilities

  • Provide administrative assistance to the literacy staff, including greeting potential walk-in students.
  • Assist students who are struggling with academic issues.
  • Follow the academic policies and procedures.
  • Maintain updated records of student progress and achievements, ensuring compliance with institutional standards.
  • Support the development and implementation of academic support programs to enhance student success interview
  • Mentor and tutor students one on one
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • A degree in education administration, social sciences, or a related field is preferred
  • Proven experience in an academic support role or similar position is advantageous
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to manage various administrative tasks effectively
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office and other software
