Job summary

Vic West Dentistry in Victoria, BC, is seeking a part-time Dental Assistant to join a patient-centered, team-based practice. You will prepare treatment rooms, assist dentists and hygienists, take X-rays, and ensure sterilization and IPAC standards are followed.

Qualifications

• Registered and/or Certified as a Dental Assistant with a provincial regulatory body.
• Previous dental assisting experience preferred.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms and materials for procedures.
• Assist dentists and hygienists during treatments.
• Take dental X-rays and digital images as required.
• Perform instrument sterilization and IPAC compliance.
• Update patient charts and provide oral hygiene education.
• Support scheduling, patient flow, and admin tasks.
• Collaborate with the dental team to deliver efficient care.
• Follow privacy, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
• Establish strong patient relationships with ethical professionalism.

The wage for this Dental Assistant position is $31-$36/hour depending on skills, experience, and location.

Your Role:

• Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials for procedures, ensuring a clean and safe environment
• Assist dentists and hygienists during treatments, maintaining patient comfort and workflow
• Take dental X-rays and digital images as required
• Perform instrument sterilization and infection control following IPAC standards
• Update patient charts and provide education on oral hygiene and post-treatment care
• Support scheduling, patient flow, and administrative tasks
• Collaborate with the dental team to deliver efficient, high-quality care
• Follow all privacy, safety, and regulatory guidelines
• Establish strong patient relationships while maintaining ethical professional behaviour

About You:

• Registered and/or Certified as a Dental Assistant with your Provincial regulatory body or association is required
• Previous dental assisting experience is preferred
