Job summary

Vic West Dentistry in Victoria, Canada is hiring a Sterilization Assistant to support the clinical team by cleaning, packaging, sterilizing, and storing instruments in IPAC-compliant processes.

The role also involves operating sterilization equipment, maintaining records for compliance, and collaborating with staff to ensure smooth patient flow; prior sterilization experience and MDRT or Dental Assisting education are preferred, with a competitive total-rewards package.

Qualifications

• Sterilization experience in a dental setting is an asset.
• Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting and/or MDRT Programs is preferred.
• Experience with IPAC is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Clean, package, sterilize, and store dental instruments in IPAC-compliant manner.
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, complete testing and documentation.
• Maintain accurate records to support compliance and audit readiness.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organized reprocessing area following health and safety protocols.
• Identify and report equipment or sterilization issues promptly.
• Collaborate with the clinical team to support efficient patient flow.

The wage for this Sterilization Assistant position is $24-$26/hour depending on skills, experience, and location.

Your Role:

• Clean, package, sterilize, and store dental instruments in compliance with IPAC standards and provincial regulations
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, completing required testing and documentation
• Maintain accurate records to support compliance and audit readiness
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organized reprocessing area following health and safety protocols
• Identify and report equipment or sterilization issues promptly
• Collaborate with the clinical team to support efficient patient flow

About You:

• Previous clinical experience working in sterilization role is considered an asset
• Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting and/or Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT) Programs is preferred
• Experience with IPAC (Infection Prevention and Control) is an asset
