Crescent Heights Academy is an independent day school located in Surrey, BC. With 630 students from K-12 in 2024, our population will grow to 700 students in the following few years. Our aim is to provide students with an inclusive community, a challenging academic education with a focus on our students' character, emphasizing critical and compassionate thinking and a life-long love of learning. Our school has a vibrant, close-knit family atmosphere where students are known and cared for; we seek candidates that value the professional and appropriate connections with students and their families and understand that every child matters. Plans have begun to build a 120,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility on the current Diamond School site. Over the next 3 years we will be planning and building the new facility with an eye to provide our students with an environment that supports our mission of building future ready students. Crescent Heights Academy is looking to hire a Library Technician to provide library services to K-12 students and staff. The ideal candidate will be able to work Monday-Friday 8:00am-3:30pm, although this may be flexible.

Services include:

  • cataloguing and processing of new library materials using a web-based automated system
  • maintaining library database, circulation records, and patron records
  • oversee the maintenance, repair and shelving of library material
  • oversee circulation of print materials including holds, check-in and check-out
  • lead a weekly book exchange with students from Kindergarten-Grade 5, library support, book selection and cataloguing for grade 6-12
  • helping students and staff to access reference and research materials
  • purchasing resources and library supplies
  • recording student, staff and parent resource requests
  • assisting community members with finding age appropriate and engaging books
  • conducting on-going weeding and an annual inventory of print materials
  • gathering and recommending books for staff based on requests and resource lists as needed
  • provide an open and inviting space during school hours for all members of the school community
  • performing clerical and other library-related duties under the direction of the VP of each campus or Head of School

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to take direction
  • Physically able to push trolleys and carry tubs of books, ability to drive between our three campuses (mileage reimbursement provided)
  • Excited about sharing literature with students and staff
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, teachers, support staff and administration
  • Proficient with technology
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Familiarity with Follett-Destiny is an asset
  • A certificate or diploma from a recognized technical college (or equivalent) as a Library Assistant or Library Technician is an asset

There are opportunities to grow this position by taking on other roles in the school such as technology coordination and/or part-time teaching.

This position is paid at an hourly rate.
