Job description

Crescent Heights Academy, an independent day school in Surrey, BC, is seeking a Library Technician to serve K-12 students and staff. Our school aims to foster an inclusive community with a challenging academic program focused on character development, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. We are planning a new 120,000 sq ft state-of-the-art facility to support our mission of preparing future-ready students.

Responsibilities include:

1. Cataloguing and processing new library materials using a web-based system
2. Maintaining library database, circulation records, and patron records
3. Overseeing the maintenance, repair, and shelving of library materials
4. Managing circulation activities, including holds, check-ins, and check-outs
5. Leading weekly book exchanges with Kindergarten-Grade 5 students
6. Supporting book selection and cataloguing for grades 6-12
7. Assisting students and staff with reference and research materials
8. Purchasing resources and supplies
9. Recording resource requests from students, staff, and parents
10. Helping community members find age-appropriate books
11. Conducting weeding and annual inventory of print materials
12. Recommending books based on staff requests
13. Providing an inviting space during school hours for all community members
14. Performing clerical and other library duties under supervision

Qualifications:

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to follow directions
• Physical ability to handle library materials and drive between campuses (mileage reimbursed)
• Passion for sharing literature with students and staff
• Attention to detail and collaborative skills
• Proficiency with technology; familiarity with Follett-Destiny is an asset
• Certificate or diploma from a recognized technical college as a Library Assistant or Technician (asset)

Opportunities exist for growth into roles such as technology coordinator or part-time teacher. The position is paid hourly.
