Job summary

Modern Steak in Calgary is seeking an Assistant General Manager to lead day-to-day front-of-house operations and a premium guest experience. You will be a visible floor leader, drive service standards, and partner with the GM and culinary team to manage costs and staff performance.

You will oversee scheduling, training and development, guest relations and event support while maintaining Alberta liquor and safety compliance. Full-time, evenings and weekends required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of restaurant management or senior supervisory experience.
• Experience in upscale, premium-casual, fine-dining or high-volume restaurant environment.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Excellent guest-recovery and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong understanding of restaurant labour and cost controls.
• Experience with scheduling and staff development.
• Strong food, wine and beverage knowledge.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to remain composed and make good decisions during high-volume service.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily front-of-house operations.
• Act as Manager on Duty and take ownership during shifts.
• Maintain service, hospitality and presentation standards.
• Lead pre-shift meetings and set clear priorities.
• Coach and develop team members, hold them accountable.
• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training and development.
• Build a positive, performance-driven workplace culture.
• Develop relationships with guests and recognize regulars.
• Manage guest concerns and service recovery.
• Support reservation management and guest experience.
