Job summary

Kinectrics Inc. in Toronto, ON is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to support engineering design and lifecycle services for new nuclear builds, including CANDU technology. You will lead design activities and interface with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compliant solutions.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in design engineering within regulated environments, hold a P.Eng. in Ontario, and possess strong knowledge of nuclear codes and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Electrical/I&C or Nuclear Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario is required.
• Strong knowledge of nuclear codes, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform engineering design for nuclear power plant systems, structures, and components across new build projects and modifications.
• Support engineering design development through conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases, ensuring alignment with nuclear safety and regulatory requirements.
• Provide engineering and design oversight, including independent technical reviews and vendor design evaluations.
• Interface with construction, procurement partners, and utility stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to deliver practical engineering solutions.
• Provide a high level of expertise in electrical/I&C areas, including control instrumentation and PLC/DCS design and specifications.
• Prepare and review technical specifications and engineering documentation per nuclear codes and standards.
• Support design integration across multidisciplinary teams to ensure system design consistency and licensing basis.
• Support assessments of reactor technologies against laws, codes, and standards for new build projects.
• Participate in hazard assessments, safety evaluations, and licensing activities for new builds.
• Provide field and site support, including design clarifications during execution.
• Support proposal development, scope definition, and technical planning for new opportunities.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to continuous improvement of design practices.
• Stay current with developments in nuclear design standards, codes, and regulatory expectations.
