Job summary

Kinectrics is seeking a Section Manager, Software Design Engineering in Toronto with hybrid on-site requirements (2-3 days per week). You will lead software design for safety-critical systems, oversee V&V, ECC, and cybersecurity, and drive lifecycle governance across projects.

You will manage software engineering teams, coordinate with clients and partners, and guide service offerings expansion within the DES group.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or related Engineering.
• 7–10+ years in software design engineering in safety-critical industries.
• 3+ years of leadership managing software / computer engineering teams.
• Proven expertise in industrial control systems and plant networks (PLC, DCS, SCADA).
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and governance across software design activities.
• Oversee software development for safety and non-safety systems.
• Manage cybersecurity controls for nuclear digital assets.
• Lead staffing, budgeting, and resource planning for software projects.
• Ensure delivery on scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
• Collaborate with utilities, vendors, and construction partners across project phases.
• Support business development and client relationship building.
