Job summary

WSP Global Inc. seeks a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive the mechanical and piping design for mining and industrial projects across Canada. You will guide multidisciplinary teams from concept through detailed design and construction support to ensure safe, efficient systems.

The ideal candidate brings 12+ years in mechanical engineering within heavy industry, proven EPCM leadership, and eligibility for P.Eng in Canada. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s is an asset.

Qualifications

• Lead as a technical expert on mechanical and piping engineering packages for mining and industrial projects across Canada.
• Apply knowledge of codes and standards (ASME B31.3/4/8, ASME VIII Div 1/2, API, TEMA) for safe and reliable systems.
• Direct and review piping layouts, isometrics, BOMs, and fabrication deliverables for project standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead as a technical expert on mechanical and piping engineering packages across all project phases.
• Apply codes and standards to develop safe, compliant mechanical systems.
• Direct piping layouts, isometrics, BOMs, and fabrication deliverables.
• Evaluate and specify rotating equipment using lifecycle cost and operability criteria.
• Oversee mechanical design of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, chutes, bins, hoppers and conveyor components.
• Prepare and review mechanical calculations for integrity and performance.
• Develop and maintain piping material specs, valve specs and equipment datasheets.
• Prepare RFQs and lead technical evaluations with procurement.
• Resolve complex design issues with engineering, procurement, and construction partners.
• Develop ITPs with hydrostatic testing and NDT requirements.
