Qualifications

• University Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related.
• 15+ years in design and engineering of material handling systems in mining/heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of conveyors, lifting equipment, automated systems, or bulk material handling.
• You hold or are eligible for a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada.
• You bring proven experience solving real‑world engineering challenges from equipment to system design.
• You’re comfortable in field/onsite work and adhere to safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop material handling systems including conveyors, cranes, hoists, automated storage, and bulk material systems.
• Translate operational requirements into engineered solutions, layouts, and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate material handling into broader facility designs.
• Support project delivery through calculations, drawings, cost estimates, and technical reports.
• Evaluate existing systems and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, safety, and reliability.
• Participate in site visits, inspections, and commissioning activities to ensure design intent is achieved.
• Apply industry standards, codes, and best practices to deliver compliant, high‑quality solutions.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to intermediate and junior engineers.
• Engage with clients, contractors, and internal partners to solve complex technical challenges.
