Job summary

The Drake Hotel in Toronto is seeking a Lead Maintenance Technician to maintain guestrooms, public spaces, and building systems to a high standard. You will troubleshoot HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and structural systems while performing preventative maintenance to minimize guest disruption and support operations across guest rooms, venues, and back-of-house areas.

Ideal candidates bring 3-5 years of maintenance experience, strong problem-solving, excellent communication, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance.
• Knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and general maintenance practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Work well with a team and reliable on independent tasks.
• Proficient communication, asking questions when uncertain, and providing thorough updates.
• Standing, walking, ability to lift 20 kg, work from heights, and handle hazardous materials.
• Flexibility to work weekdays, evenings, early morning, holidays, and weekends.
• Asset if have valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Maintain guestrooms, public spaces, back-of-house areas, and building systems to Drake standards.
• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs across the property.
• Complete general maintenance tasks including painting, drywall repair, caulking, furniture and millwork repairs, and other finishing work.
• Troubleshoot and assist with repairs to HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, boilers, appliances, laundry equipment, and other building infrastructure.
• Respond promptly to guest and operational maintenance requests, ensuring issues are resolved with care and professionalism.
• Support special projects, renovations, and contractor work as needed.
• Collaborate with Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Events, and Operations teams to ensure spaces are guest-ready and event-ready.
• Act as a key responder during building emergencies, including fire alarms, leaks, power outages, and equipment failures.
• Assist with vendor and contractor coordination and help maintain maintenance inventories and supplies.
• Maintain accurate records, organized workspaces, and safe working practices while supporting Drake's sustainability and environmental initiatives.
