Job summary

The Drake Hotel in Toronto is seeking a Houseperson to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness in guest rooms and public areas. You will support housekeeping operations, including linen changes, bathroom cleaning, and replenishing supplies, with a focus on guest satisfaction and safety.

The role requires physical stamina and flexibility for full-time shifts, including early starts, evenings, and weekends, in a fast-paced hospitality environment at The Drake Hotel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous housekeeping experience in hospitality preferred.
• Physical stamina for lifting, bending and standing long shifts.
• Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Certification in cleaning and sanitation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of guest rooms and public areas.
• Perform deep-cleaning tasks including linens, bathrooms, vacuuming, and dusting.
• Replenish supplies in storage rooms (towels, toiletries, minibar).
• Respond promptly to guest housekeeping requests.
• Report maintenance issues to the appropriate department.
• Follow safety and sanitation protocols.
• Work full-time with early starts, evenings, and weekend shifts.
• Flexibility for shift rotations and on-call duties.
• Assist housekeeping management with additional duties as needed.

Position

We are currently seeking a Houseperson to join our dynamic Hotel Team. As a Houseperson, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and orderliness in our guest rooms and public areas.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of guest rooms and public areas in a hotel.
• Perform deep-cleaning tasks such as changing linens, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, and dusting.
• Replenish supplies in storage rooms, such as towels, toiletries, and minibar items etc.
• Respond to guest requests for housekeeping services promptly and efficiently.
• Report any maintenance issues or needed repairs to the appropriate department.
• Follow and adhere to hotel policies and procedures, including safety and sanitation protocols.
• Work full-time with potential for early starts, late evening, and weekend shifts.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including shift rotations and on-call availability.
• Expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with potential for additional hours based on hotel needs.
• Assisting housekeeping management with other duties as directed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in housekeeping or a similar role in the hospitality industry.
• Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Physical stamina and ability to perform tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Certification in cleaning and sanitation practices (e.g., Certified Housekeeping Supervisor, OSHA 30-hour General Industry) is preferred.
• Experience with specialized cleaning equipment and techniques is a plus.
• Knowledge of hotel management software systems is desirable.

Compensation

Hourly wage: $23.50
