Job summary

BBA Consultants seeks an experienced engineering professional to join its Calgary office as a technical consultant and trusted advisor. You will lead instrumentation, control system and automation scopes, serve as the main technical interface with clients, and contribute to proposals while delivering hands-on engineering across projects in mining, industrial and energy sectors.

• Engineering degree in electrical, electronics, mechatronics, or instrumentation and controls.
• 15+ years of relevant consulting or industrial experience.
• Hands-on experience programming and commissioning control systems (ABB, Honeywell, Schneider/Modicon, Rockwell, etc.)
• Ability to prepare, review and interpret logic diagrams, functional specifications and control narratives
• Experience with industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus, etc.)
• Strong troubleshooting, commissioning and system integration experience
• Experience delivering projects in the mining, industrial or energy sector
• Willingness to travel to client sites locally and internationally
• Excellent communication skills (spoken and written)
• Strong organizational skills and professional judgment
• Registered with APEGA as a P.Eng

Responsibilities

• Lead instrumentation, control system and automation scopes, including scope definition, budgets, schedules and delivery tracking
• Serve as a primary technical interface with clients, building trusted relationships and supporting long-term account development
• Prepare and review engineering deliverables in accordance with BBA and client standards (e.g., P&IDs, specifications, drawings, network and panel designs)
• Design, integrate, program and commission PLC, HMI, DCS, and industrial communication systems
• Contribute to proposal development through scope definition, cost estimation, scheduling and technical positioning
• Perform site support activities including inspections, troubleshooting, testing and commissioning in Canada and abroad

Education
