Job summary

BBA Consultants is seeking an intermediate process control engineer to join our Thunder Bay or Sudbury office to support our growth across Central Canada. You will contribute across all project phases from front-end studies to field implementation, focusing on detailed engineering.

As part of the Automation, Instrumentation and Control System engineering team, you’ll ensure technical quality, manage project scope, and collaborate with regional experts to deliver high-caliber engineering

Qualifications

• University degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• 4+ years mining or energy engineering experience (consulting preferred).
• Registered P.Eng. in Ontario, Canada.
• Experience with process control design, programming, integration and commissioning.
• Knowledge of P&IDs, industrial control systems/networks and engineering design requirements.
• Strong communication, organization and technical leadership skills.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Willingness to travel for site work, inspections, commissioning and start-ups.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering work packages for major process control systems in mining and energy projects.
• Execute instrumentation, automation and control scopes while supporting budgets, schedules and project delivery.
• Lead development of engineering deliverables, including P&IDs, specifications, schematic drawings, network systems and panel designs.
• Design, integrate, program and commission PLC, HMI, DCS and industrial communication systems.
• Build strong client relationships and provide technical direction and mentorship to junior team members.
• Contribute to BBA initiatives and foster a positive culture in the Thunder Bay office while delivering high-quality work.

Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements

• University degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
• Over 4 years of mining or energy engineering experience (consulting preferred)
• Registered P.Eng. in Ontario, Canada
• Experience with process control design, programming, integration and commissioning
• Knowledge of P&IDs, industrial control systems/networks and engineering design requirements
• Strong communication, organization and technical leadership skills
• Valid driver’s licence
• Willingness to travel for site work, inspections, commissioning and start-ups
