Job summary

North Echo Inc., located in Muskoka, is a boutique design/build firm specializing in custom waterfront cottages and boathouses. We seek a Lead Carpenter to direct a crew and work with site staff and subtrades under the Site Supervisor and Project Manager.

Compensation is $38.00–$48.00 per hour with 8–10 hour shifts, Monday to Friday. The role requires 8+ years of carpentry, leadership, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Carpentry: 8+ years experience required.
• Lead a crew and delegate tasks.
• Ability to work overtime when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Lead a crew building foundations and installing floors, walls and roofing.
• Install trim, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware.
• Measure, cut and join wood or substitute materials.
• Repair and renovate wooden structures.
• Read blueprints and drawings.
• Interior finishing.
• Lead crew and delegate tasks on site.
• Coordinate with on-site trades.

The Lead Carpenter directs their team while working cooperatively with other site staff and subtrades under the direction of the Site Supervisor and Project Manager.

Pay: $38.00 - $48.00 per hour

Key responsibilities would include but are not limited to:

• Building foundations, installing floor beams, laying sub-flooring and installing walls and roofing systems
• Fitting and installing trim, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware
• Measuring, cutting and joining materials made of wood or wood substitutes
• Repairing and renovating wooden structures
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings and sketches
• Inside finishing
• Leading crew and delegating tasks
• Communication with on-site trades

Key attributes of a lead carpenter:

• You are able to work independently and lead a team
• You have multiple years of field experience and also demonstrate problem solving, leadership, time management, customer service, and attention to safety
• You are willing to work overtime when necessary to deliver the project on time

Schedule:

• 8-10 hour shift
• Monday to Friday

Experience:

• Carpentry : 8+ years (required)
