Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Land Survey CAD Technician to assist in the preparation of survey maps, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking plans. The ideal candidate should have experience with Civil 3D, Carlson Survey, or MicroStation, along with a strong understanding of surveying principles and data processing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and edit land surveying and civil CAD drawings using Civil 3D based on survey data, control, and design intent
  • Draft topographic and boundary plans derived from field survey data, LiDAR, and point clouds
  • Process and reference point cloud data in Autodesk ReCap for use in Civil 3D workflows
  • Create and manage existing ground surfaces from survey points and LiDAR classifications
  • Interpret survey information to represent existing grades, breaklines, and terrain accurately
  • Assist in the preparation of grading plans, including existing and proposed grade representation
  • Draft and verify property boundaries, including bearings, distances, monuments, and survey limits
  • Apply correct survey conventions, notation, and symbology consistent with North American land surveying standards
  • Maintain CAD drawing accuracy, layer management, and consistency with internal drafting standards
  • Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, and processing teams to resolve data discrepancies and drafting issues
Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D for land surveying and civil drafting
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk ReCap for point cloud visualization and integration
  • Strong understanding of survey surfaces, including creation, editing, and validation of existing ground models
  • Ability to interpret and draft existing grades from survey and LiDAR data
  • Knowledge of grading plan fundamentals, including contours, slopes, and elevation control
  • Solid foundation in land surveying principles, including property boundaries, survey monuments and control, bearings, distances, and coordinate systems
  • Experience drafting land surveying documents to North American standards
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in survey-based drafting
  • Experience working with feature lines in Civil 3D for terrain definition and grading
  • American land surveying drafting experience, including familiarity with U.S. survey conventions and terminology
  • Experience working with LiDAR-derived survey data in a production environment
  • Understanding of Civil 3D styles, templates, and surface management best practices
