Job summary

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Labour Relations/Employee Relations experience.
• Direct, hands-on CLAC experience is mandatory.
• Strong experience with grievances, investigations, discipline, and collective agreement interpretation.
• Strong construction experience, particularly from a unionized environment.
• Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and PivotTables.

Responsibilities

• Act as the go-to resource for Labour and Employee Relations matters.
• Support project teams and supervisors with grievances, investigations, discipline, and employee relations issues.
• Interpret and apply CLAC collective agreements.
• Build strong relationships with CLAC representatives, employees, supervisors, and project leadership.
• Support collective bargaining, pre-job meetings, and other labour relations initiatives.
• Investigate and resolve employee and pay-related issues using Excel and available data.
• Travel to project sites across Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan as required.
• Partner with HR leadership and operational teams to support a growing workforce.

Job description

Our client, a well-established leader in the engineering, construction, and industrial services sector, is seeking a Labour Relations Specialist to join their growing team in Edmonton, AB.

This newly created role is ideal for an experienced Labour Relations professional with hands-on CLAC experience and a strong construction background who enjoys working closely with project teams, supervisors, and employees. The role is primarily based in Edmonton with travel to project sites across Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan as required.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $120K-$140K Base Salary, with flexibility for the right candidate
• Permanent, full-time opportunity
• Monday-Thursday: 7:30 AM-5:00 PM in-office
• Friday: 7:30 AM-12:30 PM, working remotely
• 3-4 weeks’ vacation, based on experience

Qualifications

• Strong construction experience is required, particularly for candidates coming from another unionized environment
• Experience working with a multi-trade, unionized workforce
• Building Trades experience is an asset
• Construction, industrial, energy, oil & gas, or project-based experience strongly preferred
• Experience with collective bargaining or negotiations is an asset
• Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and PivotTables
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and be the first point of contact for labour relations issues
• Willingness to travel across Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan
• Comfortable occasionally responding to urgent matters outside regular business hours
