Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I for the Synergy Wellness Patient Service Centre. The role involves functioning independently and as part of a team, handling phlebotomy, ECGs, and monitoring patient wait times to deliver excellent service.

You will be the first contact for patients at the laboratory, adapt to a fast-paced environment, and collaborate with internal stakeholders and health care professionals to support patient care.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Previous Phlebotomy experience and ECG certification.
  • At least 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience.ECG experience.

Responsibilities

  • The Medical Laboratory Assistant I provides high quality service to clients in the clinical laboratory.
  • Performs laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, and reports results.

Job description

The team at Synergy Wellness Patient Service Centre (PSC), is looking to add a highly engaged, enthusiastic, and outgoing Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team in this fast-paced, public-facing location. Here you will have the opportunity to work both independently and as a member of our team where you will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions, including phlebotomy, ECGs and monitoring wait times to ensure you are providing the best service to your patients. In this role you will be the first contact that patients have with the laboratory. This environment allows you the ability to adapt and work effectively under pressure, utilize time management skills, and prioritize tasks within this ever-changing environment. Your organization and communication skills will help you collaborate and maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and other health care professionals. This is a temporary full-time position, scheduled to work between 0600-1815 on weekdays, as well as every third Saturday between 0700-1515. Make a difference in your community as you help healthcare professionals and patients get the information they need to improve, optimize, and maintain good health.
